Veida gets married!

Veida's day....May 17,2008...that was Veida's and George's 3 year anniversary for dating...and now it is their wedding anniversary.. I was the maid of honor...but I felt more like the cow of honor..bloated much? Shayda and Veida were super cute, and my dad sported his new suit that he will wear for his upcoming wedding and he says that he paid enough for it that he has to wear it to mine and shayda's weddings too....ha...me...married...doesn't seem likely anytime soon...blah.
Veida had her wedding at Cacharel and it was a no fuss kind of thing for us...they had a staff to pick up, decorate and serve lunch...good times.
We wore dresses that were picked out in less than ten minutes and were on super super markdown...one week before the wedding...flip flopps that were on clearance...jewery we found the day before at sam moons and the night before Veida's friend Laura and I did the flowers...
Us Mastali girls are all about procrastinationesque perfection with a bargin flare.....I dare you to ask us to pay full price for anytihng....even if it is for a wedding! ha ha.

Now Veida and George are in Hawaii....lucky ducks....

Oh and for the record...Veida is now Veida Uzer-Dima and it will soon be changed to just Dima.....so like Drew Barrymore in The Wedding Singer...who played Julia soon to be Goglia Veida is going to be Veida Dima.....silly names that sort of Rhyme....that is a Veida way to pick it! ha....

What a waste of food..

Dear Taco Cabana....

Why oh why do you have to have red chips?? Don't you know that they gross me out....it really is a waste of food to give them to me....soggy with cheese wraped as a tortilla for enchilladas, I will not...and can not eat them...

You make me the butt of Jason's laughter and jokes...he thinks I am weird...I am weird, but I don't want to waste my weirness on such a petty and nasty thing like RED CHIPS!

This is a plea.......STOP SERVING RED CHIPS....and if you can't do that, at least respect my wishes, and save the laughter when I specifically request to not have red chips in my nachos!

Thank you.

Layla the regular chip loving lady.

This is an example of what you would serve me....I borrowed the picture from this flicker account...*barf*

Sad News Exposed

So the news that I couldn't disclose the other day is:

My grandmother was diagnosed with Leukimia on May 1st. She will be 83 years old in June, she has survived cancer once....and she is determined to do it again.

She has the following type of Leukimia (Info from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society)

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is one of four main types of leukemia. About 15,340 new cases of CLL will be diagnosed in 2007. About 95,579 people are living with CLL. More people are living with CLL than any other type of leukemia. Most people with CLL are at least 50 years old.
CLL starts with a change to a single cell called a
lymphocyte. Over time, the CLL cells multiply and replace normal lymphocytes in the marrow and lymph nodes. The high number of CLL cells in the marrow may crowd out normal blood-forming cells, and CLL cells are not able to fight infection like normal lymphocytes do.

The reason I had to wait to share is because Shayda was not told yet. Veida and George picked her up from Nacogdoches and then she came up here and Veida and I told her together. I wanted her to hear it from us, and not read it in a blog.....

I will post more about my Grandma when I have the emotional will-power. Let's just say now that she has been the constant in my life....a rock to lean on.....one of my best friends. I love her.

Not for the squeamish

Jason and I ate at a HORRIBLE Chinese buffet the other day....and on the salad bar was this baby squid salad......*BARF*....so knowing Shayla and Jasmine and Aaron, we took three of these nasty pieces home.....and said...who ever eats it gets $5.
Well we figured Julie (Shayla and Jasmine's mom) would not let them have it, and we thought Aaron would pass.....boy were we wrong...and we had to cough up $15. Shayla loved them, said they tasted like chicken and that she wanted more. She at them by plucking each leg off and then popping the head in her mouth like it was candy.....Aaron gagged it down, and at first said it was ok...but as the day progressed he swore it was nasty and he thought he was going to throw up. I think he said it was ok to save face in front of his cousins...Jasmine she ate herself a leg or two, then Shayla finished it off for her. Jasmine kept saying it was spicy, and that is only because it was in a salad with peppers and such.....all in all, they are some brave kids!

(Sorry for the graphics...I am documenting this for posterity sake....ha ha ha)
